Fortune Favors the Bold...
Being true to yourself, your craft, and delivering something unique as your gift, tends to relate much better than replicating trends that will eventually fade.
You've heard this saying many times before that "fortune favors the bold." This is also true in music, as every top artist is unique and bold enough to be themselves. This has done well for them. Being true to yourself, your craft, and delivering something unique as your gift, tends to relate much better than replicating trends that will eventually fade.
It's okay to be influenced by others, but you don't want to be a copycat. That's not who you want to be because, in the end, you won't know who you really are. Find something you do very well and be scared. Yes, I said, be scared. Be scared that it won't work but do it anyway. Be scared that others won't "get it," and remember that some will. Be scared that some won't accept you, and others will embrace you.
I personally have gone through this same struggle. I'm not always bold, and I definitely do get scared. Writing courses that I hope will teach others is agonizing sometimes too. Tuh..., writing this blog is tough for me. Sometimes, I don't know what to say that will mean anything. Every day that I write, I have to remind myself that my words will reach someone I'll probably never meet, and still, I press "send." For whatever reason, you do this, find a way to be bold, and get what you want out of life. Be Bold. Press send and change your life.
