🗣 Music Tip #17 - Some people overlook an important distinction when reviewing their artist management agreement and that is that the agreement is actually broken into two parts.
One being your manager - an individual or company who guides your professional career as an artists in the music industry. The other is being your representative - an individual or company overseeing the day-to-day business affairs of an artist; advises and counsels you concerning professional matters, long-term plans and personal decisions which may affect your career.
The reason I mention these two areas separately is because, generally, as a manager they are to seek resources, connections and opportunities that may elevate your career but as a representative they are there as a buffer for you. They carry your name and represent you in all matters of business as it pertains to your career but do remember this, YOU ARE IN CONTROL and have the final say. They work for you.
The only way this differs is if you have given proxy for certain matters to your manager to have decision making capabilities.
