HAPPY FRIDAY!!! To end the week and start the weekend, I figured the next on the list should be #8 SAFETY. Yes, I know you know how to keep the drama out of your life and how to go unbothered 😒 by pretty much anything, especially if you live in New York City 🏙. Nothing phases you. 🤷🏾♂️ But what about when people are around you? Do they feel safe? Does your partner feel safe with you? Not physically, but (this is important)… EMOTIONALLY?
This is called emotional SAFETY.
“It means that you believe your partner cares about your own emotional experience and vice versa. Emotional safety means that we feel comfortable sharing with our partner. For example, sharing our hopes, fears, vulnerabilities, and pain, because we trust that our partner will tend to these emotions with warmth and concern.”
Knowing you have someone in your corner to be comfortable and vulnerable is a strength in any relationship. It’s a friend on a new level.
A lot goes into a marriage so let #8 EMOTIONAL SAFETY be a priority. First, spend your time sharing your hopes and fears with your partner and acknowledge and embrace how they feel. Then, take a step forward and grow in safety.
